The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. The group consisted of Morrissey (vocals), Johnny Marr (guitar), Andy Rourke (bass), and Mike Joyce (drums). Known for their jangly guitar sound and Morrissey's witty, melancholic lyrics, The Smiths became one of the most influential bands of the 1980s alternative rock scene. Some of their most famous songs include "This Charming Man," "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out," and "How Soon Is Now?" The band broke up in 1987 after releasing four studio albums, but their music continues to influence artists today.
