Dr. Hook (also known as Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show) was an American rock band formed in the late 1960s. They are best known for their mix of rock, pop, and country music, often with humorous or satirical lyrics. The band gained popularity in the 1970s and early 1980s with hits like: "Sylvia's Mother" "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" "Sharing the Night Together" They originally performed songs written by poet and songwriter Shel Silverstein. Dr. Hook was known for their fun, laid-back style and catchy tunes. The group disbanded in 1985, but their music remains popular on classic rock and oldies radio.
