Wire is an English rock band formed in London in 1976. Known for their influence on punk, post-punk, and alternative rock, Wire's early music combined raw punk energy with experimental, minimalist structures. Their first three albums—"Pink Flag" (1977), "Chairs Missing" (1978), and "154" (1979)—are considered classics and have inspired many bands, including R.E.M., Sonic Youth, and Blur. The band is known for constantly evolving its sound, incorporating elements of electronic music and avant-garde influences. Despite lineup changes and hiatuses, Wire has continued to release critically acclaimed music into the 21st century. Core members include Colin Newman, Graham Lewis, Robert Grey, and the late Bruce Gilbert.
