Phil Ochs was an American folk singer and songwriter active mainly in the 1960s and early 1970s. Known for his sharp political and protest songs, Ochs wrote music that addressed civil rights, anti-war movements, and social justice. Unlike some of his contemporaries, Ochs was more overtly political, often blending wit and satire into his lyrics. Some of his best-known songs include "I Ain't Marching Anymore," "Draft Dodger Rag," and "There But for Fortune." Despite his talent, he struggled with mental health issues and died by suicide in 1976. Today, he’s remembered as a powerful voice of protest in American music.
