Capo: 5 Tuning:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One too many mornings – Bob Dylan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Music & Lyrics: Bob Dylan Tuning: Drop D (D a d g b e) with Capo on 5 Key: C (G relative to capo) Tab and arrangement by Robert Saunders NOTES: Although the original recording of this on Times They Are A-Changin’ (1964) seems to have been played open A tuning (according to dylanchords.info), you can make it sound pretty similar in Drop D and it’s a lot easier to drop the bass string than to retune everything to open A. There are other tabs in open tuning in the key of C with no capo (including one by me) which sound fine but this is my preferred way of playing it. You can also play it in standard tuning using the same chords. Bob Dylan seems to play it this way (in G relative to capo) in some of his live performances, although this is not intended to be an accurate transcription of any of his recordings. It is just the way that I like to play it, which is fairly close to (but not the same as) the album recording. The intro, instrumental bridge and outro do not correspond to any Dylan recordings, so feel free to ignore them and head straight to the verse if you just want to learn how to play the song. And I gaze back to the street The sidewalk and the sign. As I'm one too many mornings And a thousand miles behind It's a restless, hungry feeling That don't mean no one no good. When everything I'm saying, You can say it just as good. You are right from your side, And I am right from mine. We’re both just one too many mornings And a thousand miles behind
