Extreme is an American rock band formed in 1985 in Malden, Massachusetts. Known for their blend of hard rock, funk, and glam metal, the band gained major popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their most famous song is the acoustic ballad "More Than Words", which became a global hit in 1991. The band is led by vocalist Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, whose virtuosic playing is a hallmark of Extreme's sound. Their best-known albums include Extreme II: Pornograffitti and III Sides to Every Story. Despite lineup changes and periods of inactivity, Extreme has continued to release music and tour, maintaining a loyal fan base.
