Choking Victim was a punk band from New York City, active primarily in the 1990s. Known for their raw sound, they blended punk rock with ska and hardcore influences, creating a subgenre often called crack rock steady. Their lyrics often tackled themes of anti-authoritarianism, poverty, and addiction. The band was notorious for their chaotic energy and broke up immediately after recording their only full-length album, No Gods / No Managers. Despite their short-lived career, Choking Victim became highly influential in underground punk scenes, later spawning related bands like Leftöver Crack.
