G#mStanding F#knee deep in colEd water, swiftly moving, sG#momehow I F#knew I'd lost somethEing. G#mWading F#waist deepE I saw a book there in the river, G#mwaitingF# for me to find it thEere.
G#mI tried to F#read it, necEk deep, treading waterG#m, but the tide, F#it pulled me out to Esea.
Then, with G#mwater in my eyes, the wF#ords began to rise from their plEace. They were beG#mautiful and dread; I reachF#ed for them and fed on each phErase.
They were hG#money on my lips, but tF#hen a bitter twist in my sEide. I knew they'd G#mlay me in my grave; "Is there nF#o one who can save me?" I crEied.
Sinking, down deep through cold water and heavy silence, shadows stirring in the gloom. What things that lay sleeping down deep in the darkness woke then, to find me in that tomb? And when I lost all hope to look, someone took that heavy book from my hands; all its weight they set aside, after they had satisfied its demands. I felt white and black reverse, and the lifting a curse from my heart. Then like one receiving sight, I beheld a brilliant light in the dark.
