First, props to Joshua Bray (version 3) for giving me the basis of this, but there are
crucial bass notes missing from his chords. Unfortunately, the real way to play this
song requires an open tuning. So the chords I have here are the most applicable for a
solo guitar in standard tuning. Names of chords are approximate for simplicity's sake and
chord forms are below.
Capo: 4th Fret
Verse 1: (pt.1)
It's empty in the Amvalley of your C/Gheart
The sun, it rises Amslowly as you C/Gwalk
Away from all the Amfears
And all the C/Gfaults you've C/Bleft beChind F/C C
Verse 2: (pt.1)
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat
Chorus: (pt.2)
But CI will F/Chold on Chope
And CI won't F/Clet you Cchoke
F/COn the Cnoose aGround your neck
And AmI'll find Fstrength in Cpain
And AmI will Fchange my Cways
FI'll know my Cname as it's called Gagain
Verse 3: (pt.1)
Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind
Verse 4: (pt.1)
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears
Chorus: (pt.2)
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
Verse 5: (pt.1)
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's hand
Chorus 2: (pt.2)
So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be
Chorus: (pt.2)
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
