They've been playing it for years (I'm sure) and I had the pleasure of seeing them perform it live at Hardee's Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC, back in August of '95. I think the song was written by their producer, Don Gheman (I think), and I love the song. I'm not exactly sure on the lyrics, the strength of Darius' voice kind of muffles his lyrics sometimes, so if the words don't make sense to you, they may be incorrect. INTRO: strum on G VERSE:
There's a Gcurve in the highway, just south of townD Where our mEmatters roll over ('), could've figured CI'd found (') With only hGis conscience, and a lonesome sounDd And Jesus wiCnding up creek (')
Got a wife aGnd two kids, bringing up his son (D') Got a woman Emdown in Charleston, and she's startingC to show And he's damGned if he leaves her, and he's sure damneDd if he don't And he wondeCrs how his life got this way....
CHORUS:
Cause it's a fine liDne iGnbetween Cright and wrong D G C Yeah you've been crossiDn' over that border way too long He should'veEm seen it comin' at him right from the Dstart G Now there aiCn't no escape from a broken heart D G C D G
VERSE 2:
And a call Gfrom the highway is a powerful thing D Like a pulloEmver lover, or a child in a swing C And he's talGkin' to her, only one way to explain D And there botCh gonna have his babies now
So hoGw do you confess what words Dwon't explain' He nEmever intended to cause thisC much pain And GI feel like a farmer who's beeDn prayin' for the rain Got Cmore than he bargained from the clouds....
REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE:
BmHe'll turn his car around tonight, go home and try Cto face the truth AmEveryone involved'sG gettin' hurt and there ain't nDothing he can do Dno no no
(i use to know the guitar solo but I forgot how to play it and I'm too lazy to figure it out again, but here are the chords to it in the same pattern as the chorus) D G C D G C D
EmHe should've seen it comin' at him right from the Dstart G CNow there ain't no, now there ain't no escape froDm a G
CHORUS:
DFine LinGe inbetweeCn right and wrong D G C Yeah you've been crossDin' over that border way too long EmHe should've seen it comin' at him right from theD start G C D G
Now there ain't no escape from a broken heart
CNow there ain't no escapin' from a broken heart D G CYeah we're all gonna wind up with a broken heart D G (mumbling) Nobody'Cs gettin out without a broken heart D G
C D G Okay, that's the song. Maybe someday I'll come back and put in the guitar solo, but not any time soon. If you have any questions, email is good (RussDog685@AOL25).
