Whiskeytown was an American alternative country band formed in 1994 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Fronted by singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, the group played a key role in the 1990s alt-country movement, blending traditional country influences with rock and punk energy. Despite frequent lineup changes and internal tensions, Whiskeytown gained critical acclaim for their emotionally raw lyrics and atmospheric sound. The band disbanded in 2000, with Ryan Adams going on to a successful solo career.
