Ian Tyson was a Canadian singer-songwriter and one of the most influential figures in Western and folk music. Born in British Columbia in 1933, he first gained fame as part of the duo Ian & Sylvia in the 1960s. Later, he became known for his solo work, especially in cowboy and country music. Tyson's lyrics often reflected life in the Canadian West, ranching culture, and the spirit of the prairies. He was also a working rancher, which deeply informed his songwriting. Tyson passed away in 2022, leaving a lasting legacy in North American music.
