Bread was an American soft rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1968. Known for their mellow sound and romantic ballads, they became one of the leading bands of the 1970s soft rock scene. The group's key members included David Gates (vocals, bass, guitar), James Griffin (vocals, guitar), and Larry Knechtel (keyboards). Bread is best known for hits like: “Make It with You” (1970) – their only No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 “Everything I Own” “Baby I'm-a Want You” “If” Their music featured rich harmonies and smooth instrumentation, making them popular on both pop and adult contemporary charts. The band broke up in 1973, briefly reunited in 1976, and again for a final tour in 1996–97.
