I love this song. It was one of the songs that I wanted to play when I started to play guitar, but for a
beginner that G7 can be ugly, but once you get that down the rest is pretty easy. The nice thing about
this song for a beginner is that it can be played as slow as you want and still sounds great. People will
think that you are playing slow to capture the emotions in the song. At least that's what I tell them.
Play to make your self happy and then everything sounds good.
I first heard this song in a episode of the Rockford Files (Season 5-Ep 1), so you know it has to be good.
(I got most of this version from Classic-country-song-lyrics.com)
GStarted out with the G7dreams
And the Cplans of a Gwise man
And ended Cup with the D7heartaches of a Gfool
As a boy I would Cwalk through the Gvalley
Gazed at the D7world all aGround
Made a vow that someG7how I would Cfind fame and Gfortune
I Cfound it but D7look at me Gnow
I had a sweetheart who would Clove me forGever
Didn't need her I would D7reign all aGlone
And look at me I'm the G7king of a Ccold lonely G7castle
The Cqueen of my D7heart is Ggone
So get around me you Cfools for a Gdollar
Listen to me a D7lesson you'll Glearn
Wealth there's happiness and G7love sent from Cheaven Gabove
And the Cfires of amD7bition will Gburn
GStarted out with the G7dreams
And the Cplans of a Gwise man
And ended Cup with the D7heartaches of a Gfool
