Truckstop Honeymoon - Breakfast in Seattle Tabbed By: Danny Halstead Intro: strum C G F G (x2) The lyrics in this song are a bit hard for an Aussie to interpret but here goes...
CStart the day as you left off GA smoke is sure to clear your cough FTake a sip from a wounded soldier GThrough your coat over your shoulder CDays are long and need punctuation GThe first stop is a gas station FBuy a pack of Old Golds and some kind of beer you don't have to keep cold CCoz the fridge is broke and that's alright GYou got no food no apetite FYou drink champagne and Krystal Lite GThat's breakfast in SeaCttle
CTake a walk up Denny Way GTry to get the blood back to your feet FGo find the Green Cat Cafe Gand order someting to eat CTwo eggs over hard GPaid for on a gas card FYour Daddy never reads the statement GHe gets the Bills, then he pays them CYou meet Jimmy like you always do GHe's always in the same shape as you FYou walk together down Denny Way GShouting out at the traffic CHey you slaves, you coffee jerks FYou CEOs, you're late for work CYou go back to the monastery GWhere they are shootin' up in the sanctuary FYou got a pallet on the floor GWhat do you need a god damn job for? CYou got credit and you got cash GYou got coffee and you got hash FYou've got friends, I can never have GI don't care, life's not so bad CSure it's cold but you don't complain GYou'll like Seattle when its gray and raining FYou've had enough of the sunny south GAnd redneck clubs, they sing about CYou don't miss the slower pace GYour mind--, it just loves to race FYou got means and you know ways GYou can stay away for days and days CHere's the church and here's the steeple Gand my hypodermic space needle FOpen the door and take a peek GOn the fingers there are the people CSuddenly it all comes clear GYou can see all the way to Melbourne (1) here FUntil the rain sets in for good GDon't want your car washed, its understood.
CBaby you talk a mile a minute Gand you tell the story, hey I'm in it FI'll be walking with you all the way GUp the hill, to the Green Cat Cafe
CThen it ends, like it began GWith an ashtray and an empty can FHad a battle you can stand Gat Breakfast in SeaCttle
-------------------------------------------------------- (1) I know it's not Melbourne but I'm an Aussie and that's the nearest city that sounds like what they sing! Phew! What an epic saga! This is the best I can with trying to understand the accents. Some of the phrasing is a bit weird and I am happy to be corrected on any lyrics that I have got wrong. Please rate and or comment on this song! Have fun with it.
