Down South – Tom Petty
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Written by: Tom Petty
From: “Highway Companion” (2006)
Tabbed by: maguri
Tuning: Standard
Here’s my reading of the solo. It’s not that difficult to play even though
it is high up on the fretboard. There’s a lot of delay on this simple
melody (sounds like there’s some sort of “reverse” effect, too?). I’m
not much of an electric guitar player, so my tip is: play around with your
delay until it comes close ...
Many of the notes are triplets, which are a little difficult to write in
this format. Playing along to Petty’s recording might help to get the
timing right.
