As a Dubliner myself, I took the libery of using The Dubliners vernacular.
Also, it seems for every different version, he used different names in the song.
The version I took these from is a live version, I forget which album it's from.
But you can easily change then to suit yourself.
Also think he meant to say 'Tom Maloney' in that fifth verse.
The Watkins St. named in the song, is in the Coombe in the inner city of Dublin, which
used to be the poorest poor part of Dublin, with the greatest people you
could ever wish to meet.
Musha means oh, or well, but in a
pitiful or sorrowful way.
Avourneen means my darling.
Gob means mouth, so,
Hold yer gob means to shut your mouth.
The sign off, how is yer auld wan, Game ball?
Your auld wan, is Dublin slang for your wife,
though can also mean your Mother.
And Game ball means, great, grand, fantastic.
