When Mikel plays the G chord in this song,
he only plucks the top 4 strings.
In the into and at some points in the song
he strums the D string and then strums the chord.
This is subtle, but it makes the chord sound like
a D chord at first. At other points in the song,
he does strum the whole G chord. So it's tricky,
but if you want it to be perfect, you can listen
closely and see what I mean.
Another side note - The B/C, A/C, and G/C chords
are C chords with B, A and G on the bottom instead of C.
I'm sure they have more official names than that, but
this will do for now. Let me know if you know what
their official name is, and i'll add them in.

The other dCay, when we were walking by the gravGeyard near the house, you
asked me iCf I thought we would ever dAmie. And if lCife and love both fade so
predGictably, we've made ourselves a kCind of predictable lAmife.
And so I picCtured us like corpses, lying sGide by side in pieces, in some dCark
and lonely blood under a bAmow. We looked so siClly there, all decomposed, half
turGned to dust, in tattered clothes, but we proAmbably look just as silly now.
Bye bye bye bCye, bye bye to all this doGgged innocence. I cant preCtend that I
can tell you what is goGing to happen next, or how to Ambe. But you have Cno B/Ci-
A/Cdea aG/Cbout mFe, do Cyou?
And it leCft me to wonder if people will eGver know each other by just
stumCbling around like strangers in the dAmark. 'Cause someCtimes you seem so
strange to me, I mGust seem strange to you. We're like two acCtors playing our
paAmrts. Did you memCorize your lines? 'Cause I did. Here's the paGrt where I get
so mad, I tCell you I cant forget the pAmast. You get so quCiet now, and you
seem, somehow, like a loGst and lonely child. And you just hCope that the
moment wont lAmast.
Bye bye bye bCye, bye bye to all this doGgged innocence. I cant preCtend that I
can tell you what is goGing to happen next, or how to Ambe. But you have Cno B/Ci-

dea about me, no i- dea about me, do you?
So there's alCways a way arAmound. There's somCething tying our feet to the
grAmound. A moment paGssed, we hate how it soAmunds.
C B/C A/C G/C F C B/C A/C G/C F
And it seems a little less profound. Like we're all going the same way down.
C B/C A/C G/C F C B/C A/C G/A F
Yeah we're all going the same way down. I'm just trying to write it all down.
'Cause I write soCngs, and you write letGters. We are tAmied like two, in
teGthers. And we tCalk and read, and laGugh and sleep, at nAmight in bed,
togGether. And you wCake in tears sometGimes, I can sAmee the thoughts flash
across your eGyes. They say &quoCt;Darling, will you Gbe kind? Will you be a good
Amman, and stay beGhind if I get oAmld?"
C G C B/C
And then the letters all pass through my head, with the words that I was

told. About the fading flesh of life and love, the failures of the bold. I
C G C B/C Am
can list each crippling fear like I'm reading from a will.
C B/C A/C G/C F C B/C A/C G/C
And I'll defy everyone and love you still. I will carry you with me up every
hFill. If you Amdie before I B/Cdie, I'll carve your nCame B/Cout of the Amsky. I'll Amfall
asleep with your mB/Cemory and dCream of wB/Chere you lAmie.
It maybe betCter to move oGn, and to let lAmife just carry Gon. And I may be
wAmrong. But still, I'll tCry.
'Cause it's beAmtter to lB/Cove whether you wCin or lB/Cose or Amdie. Yeah, It's beAmtter
to lB/Cove whether you Cwin or lB/Cose or Amdie. It's bAmetter to lB/Cove, and I will lCove
you 'B/Ctil I dAmie.
End on C
