Here ya go, folks. Dead & Bloated is not in drop D, it's in standard tuning. While it theoretically could be played in drop D, it just doesn't make sense when you think about some of the pull-offs Dean does and the dissonant chords he plays. Also...if you're a stickler for the rhythm structure and exact chord strums then you might not get that here. I'm really just getting the tab down. Anyway, on to business... Intro/verse riff, takes a bit of getting used to. Fret the strings with your index finger and do the D string pull-offs with your middle finger. Here's the F# - E pull-off part, I guess you could call it the chorus but it also wraps up the bridge part. This is also one of the parts that I think proves it's in standard tuning. This would be a pain in the ass to play in drop D. Repeat a few times... pm------------------------| E|-----------------------------0-0------------------------------------------------------| B|-----------------------------0-0------------------------------------------------------| G|-----------------------------3-3------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------4-4------------------------------------------------------| A|--4--4-4--4--4-4--4--4-4--4--4-4------------------------------------------------------| E|--0--2-2--0--2-2--0--2-2--0--2-2------------------------------------------------------| "You can't follow..." Bridge part. He plays some sweet dissonant chords, a technique he seems to like 'cause it's common among STP songs. Another part that makes me believe the song is in standard. There you have it...a Dean DeLeo masterpiece. One of my biggest influences.
