Capo: 2 Tuning: E A D G B E
This is how Steve plays it on the original recording and also live, and his picking pattern for these chords matches what he plays when it's tabbed out. Play Capo on 2 with the following chord shapes, using mostly an alternating thumb bass picking pattern on strings 1 (low E) and 3 (D). There's less frequent use of 6th (high E) string in the pattern but it's there at times for color and emphasis according to the dynamics of the song and the performance. Occasional hammer ons and hammer offs during the song on strings 4 (the G) and especially 5 (the B). The color of the picking style comes from the bass lines and from the 5 (B) string, hammering on at the first fret at times playing when playing either D7/F# or G. See this plugged in acoustic performance as an example: https://youtu.be/mMEnC09OOHY Ignore the default UG chord shapes; these are easier and are how Steve plays it: G5 3X00XX D5 X0023X Csus2 X3003X D/F# 2X023X G 3X0003 B7/F# 2212XX C/G 33201X Cm 22554X Em 022000 D7/F# 2X021X G/B X200XX C X32010 B7 X21202 [Intro] G5 [Verse 1]
