Sonic Youth spent 30 years eschewing all known convention in the musical world, most famously through their use of odd and often bizarre tunings as well as manners of playing the guitar, often with drumsticks and screwdrivers and what not. To properly play this tune, you'll want to retune your guitar to F#F#F#F#EB, or so I have been told, and rapidly and voraciously apply a drumstick to the strings of your guitar along the neck toward the end of the song so as to better alienate anyone listening. Today however you may retain normality as I've used normal, conventional guitar chords which sound perfectly fine played along to the record.
