Slaughter Beach, Dog – Politics of Grooming tab
Tuning: Eb Standard
No capo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got this from the acoustic version here https://youtu.be/LLXauSbznuU?t=20m11s.
The song's actually a lot simpler than it sounds, just these three chords.
I learned this by ear but it's pretty easy and I'm 99% sure it's accurate.
Chord Progressions
B E F#
Eb|----------|----------|----------|
Bb|--4-------|---5------|---7------|
Gb|-------4--|-------4--|-------4--|
Db|----------|-2---2----|-4---4----|
Ab|-2---2----|----------|----------|
Eb|----------|----------|----------|
You could also play this song in E standard, just subtract one from each of the numbers.
Repeat these chord progressions until the change marked in time with the
lyrics. For the E progression, I sometimes like to hit a 0 on the low E
string instead of a 2 on the D string.
Anyway, that's it. Here's the tab.

[Verse 1]
BI know the “you” when you are getting dressed
EIs not the “you” I've really come to know B
F#She speaks in shorter phrases
EAnd she often can't remember
BWhich impulsive words were emF#itted as respBonse
[Verse 2]
BBut it's not a selfish shorter-spanned attention
Rather prefEerence for the politics of grBooming
Hell, I'd pF#aint my face and fingers
And my tEoes and lips and eyelids
If it mBeant tonight I didn't have to tF#hink about the future
BJust to fixate my attention on a wooden powder pencil
ENot a single thought devoted
To whatBever's on outside the house
Or eF#ven past the door to your mother's bEathroom
Where we're sitting
And survBiving on the steadiness oF#f passing Btime
[Chorus 1]
BSo when the lines are drawn and all the powders matted
You'll be sEtanding there blinking at your Bimage
F#And you wished that it would turn around
EAnd do what it's supposed to
BBut reflections do not F#turn themselves awBay
[Verse 3]
BWhen you were younger and your mother started drinking
She would tEuck you in and close your bedroom door
Then one niF#ght you sprung awake
Inside a tuErning twisted dream
And you rBan downstairs to find her laying F#out across the Bfloor
[Verse 4]
BShe did not hear you softly crying near her
EOr feel your mouth all hot against her ear
F#So you kissed her like she taught you
And for the Efirst time on the head
You got Bup and tucked your F#own self into Bbed
[Chorus 2]
BSo when the lines are drawn and all the powders matted
You'll be sEtanding there blinking at your Bimage
F#And you wished that it would turn around
EAnd do what it's supposed to
BBut reflections do not F#turn themselves awBay
Yeah you F#wished that you would turn around
And Edo what you're supposed to
BBut it's easier to F#blink and stare and Bstay
