DAll hands are awake tonight
the Gweather it is rough
the Askipper smiles and all hands note
he's Gnot a man to Dbluff
the wheel he grapsed, the waves they crashed
the Gnight is not so clear
but he'll Apush he hard with no regard
to Gmake it home this Dyear
DA giant of a man he stands
our sGkipper brave and strong
but he Apromised us two weeks ago
that Gwe would make St. DJohn's
to celebrate the christ child's birth
with the Gfamilies oh so dear
to vAisit out communities
to Gspread our christmas Dcheer
GI'll try to make it Ahome again this Dyear
by Gland or by Asea
I Dthink of you and Gme
If I could I'd take a Aplane that Dsoars across the sky
For GChristmas time in ANewfoundland
and Gmy own piece of Dmind
But the sea is unforgiving
it drove us up and down
but lucky we did have a ship
that was so very sound
we rode our way past baccalieu
and down by logey bay
the people that we missed so much
were not too far away
We pushed along the coastline
till a break came in the rock
the roughest trip we ever made
was one mile from the dock
boys I've kept my promise
the skipper he did say
we passed by fort amherst light
on that cold Christmas Day
I'll try to make it home again this year
by land or by sea
I think of you and me
If I could I'd take a plane that soars across the sky
For Christmas time in Newfoundland
and my own piece of mind
So people that you know who work
on the land or on the sea
remember that if possible
it's home that they will be
to celebrate this blessid time
with family oh so dear
to say they made it home again
for christmas time this year
I'll try to make it home again this year
by land or by sea
I think of you and me
If I could I'd take a plane that soars across the sky
For Christmas time in Newfoundland
and my own piece of mind
I'll try to make it home again this year
by land or by sea
I think of you and me
If I could I'd take a plane that soars across the sky
For Christmas time in Newfoundland
and my own piece of mind
