DMe and Oliver and Virgil is-at the Gdrug store killin time
when my Aeyes fell upon this Dmagazine
I started readin this article on Gskydiving and parachutes
and they said Ajumpin out of airplanes was the Dthing
Now being raised down on a farm and always Glookin for adventure
I Aknew that we could figure out a Dway
Delmer Gill has got a parachute and uncle GHarvey’s got an airplane
so I said Acall the boys together today's the Dday
Well AI found out too late what uncle DHarvey called an airplane
Wasnt E7nuthin but an engine and a Awing
and I could Dfeel my fear a-risen as GDelmer packed the parachute
cause he kept Atellin me ayes doin the right Dthing
Ron McLaughlin shook my hand as JD sGtrapped me in the harness
and ATilden brought a jug and passed it aDround
I took one look at that parachute, that Gwhiskey and that airplane
and I Aturned that bottle up and drank it Ddown.
Well I was drunker than Cooter Jones when they Gpoured me in the plane
the Aengine coughed and sputtered towards the Dclouds
Well I was sober as a judge when he Gopened up that door
I Anever knew my heart to beat that Dloud
I said AHARVEY I CANT DO IT as he Dpushed my out the door
and I E7wrapped my hands around theA landing gear
and I was Dholdin on real good till Harvey Gstepped down on my fingers
Virgil Asaid he heard me scream from way up Dthere!
Well I thanked God and Delmer Gilles when that Gparachute finally opened
I said Ahell, there aint no use in bein Dafraid
and I went crashin through the hen-house scattering Gchickens and breakin eggs
and I Akissed the ground and fainted dead aDway.
Now friends I've done some fightin, and I've beenG shot at once or twice,
and I Adern-near got run over by a Dtrain.
But I can't recall the day that I was Gmany more afraid
Then the Aday I jumped from Uncle Harvey's DPlane.
