Subject: Renaissance - At the Harbour (fwd)
Hi. Many people replied asking for the chords since the news message
didn't get through. Here it is, anyway.
I post things into the news with VI, but I made the Chords text back home
on my PC, and I think something went wrong when I tried to insert my
previously-made text file into the vi editor. Any ideas? I used ":e" and I
was sure it worked, but.... Please send me any help you've got for any
further posting from me....

AT THE HARBOUR
--------------
By Dunford/Thatcher
From the album Ashes Are Burning by Renaissance (1973)
Play with Capo on second fret. The chords listed hear are transposed one
tone backward (Am should actually be Bm when the Capo is applied)
All verses have the same sequence of chords. The two chorus have another
sequence. There is a piano intro and ending, ommitted here.
The verses are played in a fast arpeggio. Simply pluck the chords of the
chorus.

AmOut at daybreak Dto the sun
CSeas are drifting Dglass
The Amtides were turningD to the storm
CWinds were moving Dfast
FWomen waiting Gat the harbour
CSilent stand arEound
FWeather storms aGnother day
For Cmen the sea has Efound
Fisherman were laying nets
The barrels spread the bait
The seagulls warning echoed round
Winds that wouldn't wait
People gathered at the harbour
Waiting for the tide
Eyes half closed against the spray
And tears they cannot hide
[Chorus]
AmShadows falling Dmat the harbour
GWomen stant aCround
AmWeather storms anDmother way
For Gman the Emsea had Amdrowned D C D
Hulls were creaking crashing sails
Rains were slanting down
The oilskins flapping, decks awash
Slanting turning round
Thunder roaring at the harbour
Women drawn in fear
Huddle up to wait the time
And pray the sky well clear
Howling winds and the raging waves
Cracked upon the boats
And torn from safety, torn from life
Men with little hope
Ghostly echoes at the harbour
Whispering of death
Women weeping holding hands
Of those they still have left
[Chorus]
Shadows falling at the harbour
Women stant around
Weather storms another way
For man the sea had drowned
Have Fun!
