"Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" By: Relient K Tabbed by: John McPherson - Baylor U. jmcpherson@dublindp.com The chords used are largely inversions of A2, in which the D and G strings are pressed down in the second fret. Then you can slide up to the fourth fret for B2, and don't bar-just use your forefinger to press second fret A string (bass B) and mute the string. Move your fingers up just like this to hit C#m (you don't have to hit the B string to get the minor-it's redundant). The chord I reference as E is this same setup moved up to the forefinger in the 7th fret and the others in the 9th, not muting the E-string. Low E is just normal E in the first/second fret. Feel free to add anything to this or to change it, but I think it's pretty darned closen to the studio recording they did, 'cause I listened to it about 50 times... God Bless Intro: Solo: (actual notes on strings-not chords) E B G# B F# B E B D# B E B F# B D# B D# B E B D# B E B F# B G# B D# B E B(x2) Then: E & B | E & B | D# & B Chords: A2 B2 C#m E A2 B2 C#m E A2 B2 (Verse 1)
E I watched the proverbial sunrise A2 coming up over the Pacific and
C#m you might think I'm losing my mind, B2 but I will shy away from the specifics...
A2 'cause I don't want you to kB2now where IC#m am 'cause tA2hen you'll see my heB2art
in the sC#maddest state it's ever been.
A2 This is no place to B2try and live my life.
[Pre-Chorus] lowE E B2 B/D# Stop right there. That's exactly where I lost it.
A2 See that lC#mine. Well I nB2ever should have crossed it. lowE E B2 B/D# Stop right there. Well I never should have said
that it's the vA/G#ery moment tA2hat I wB2ish that I could take back.
[Chorus]
E I'm sorry for the person I became. B2 C#m I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change. B2 E
I'm ready to try and never become that way again B2 C#m 'cause who I am hates who I've been.A2
B2 (Intro) Who I am hates who I've been. (Verse 2)
E I talk to absolutely no one. A2 Couldn't keep to myself enough.
And the thC#mings bottled inside have finally begun to crB2eate so much pressure that I'll soon blow up.
E I heard the reverberating footsteps A2 sinking up to the beating of my heart,
C#m and I was positive that unless I B2got myself together,
I would watch me fall apart.
And A2I can't let that B2happen agC#main 'cause tA2hen you'll see my hB2eart
in the C#msaddest state it's ever been. A This is no place to B2try and live my life.
[Pre-Chorus x2] [Chorus]
E/G# Who I amA2 hates who I've beB2en B2/C C#m and who I am won't take the second chance you gave me.
Who I aA2m hates who I've beenE 'cause who I've been oB2nly ever made me...
