Tuning: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
Looking all over to send the people I jam with the tab for this...And everyone seems to have it wrong! If it IS impossible to play, then it IS impossible to play! But it WAS played, right? Occam's Razor: Simple is usually correct. PRINCE TUNED A 1/2 STEP DOWN!! It SOUNDS Bb, but it is PLAYED in B! (Or just move each chord down a fret. But this is how I learned it.) Try these: Bsus2 G#m11 F# Esus2 Eb|----2-------------2------7---------------------------------| Bb|----2------2------2------7---------------------------------| Gb|----4------4------3------9---------------------------------| Db|----4------4------4------9---------------------------------| Ab|----2------X------4------7---------------------------------| Eb|-----------4------2----------------------------------------| One note: The F# is alternately played as an F#ad9 (6th fret on D string) or F#7 (2nd fret on the D string)- during the intro and chorus respectively. The above is done/shown for simplicity and ease of play. Makes more sense now, right? Stay in B major (B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#, A#) for the lead or emphasize the F# Mixolydian (F#, G#, A#, B, C#, D#, E) if jamming. The outro adds a descending series of 4 chords: E5 D#5 C#5 B5 Eb|---------------------------------------------------------| Bb|---------------------------------------------------------| Gb|-----9-------8------6-------4----------------------------| Db|-----9-------8------6-------4----------------------------| Ab|-----7-------6------4-------2----------------------------| Eb|---------------------------------------------------------| Mmm Kay? All better? No 6 fret stretches? Peace and enjoy one of the all-time great ballads!
