Finally figured out a right-sounding way to play this. A lot of tabs I've seen don't
work out, but this sounds good and looks like what Paul plays during live performances of
song. So here we go (I've seen him use a 12 string, though it works well enough on a 6-er)
Chords:
Asus {x02200}
Dsus2* {xx0230}
F#m {244322}
C# {446644}
D# (?) {668866}
*when playing Dsus2, works to hammer on the E string to make D once in a while
AsusGet up from a dream and I look for rain
Dsus2Take an amphetamine and a crushed rat brain
F#mHow am I feeling? Better, I supDsus2pose
AsusHow am I looking, I don't want the truth
Dsus2What am I doin', I ain't in my youth
F#mI'm past my prime... or was that just a poDsus2se?
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those
AsusI've been accused of never opening up
Dsus2You get too close then I keep my mouth shut
F#mI'm gonna run to the wind where the big bad city blDsus2ows
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those.
AsusWell you can dress to the eights, you can dress to main
Dsus2Make you feel great, this fortune and fame
F#mWearin' too much make-up... not near enough cloDsus2thes
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those.
AsusSo don't pin your hopes or pin your dreams
Dsus2On misanthropes or guys like me
F#mBut the truth is overrated... I suppDsus2ose
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by on Dsus2those
C#It's a wonderful lie, I D#still get by ...Dsus2
And that's it! In the studio version I believe there's an interlude in there somewhere,
the 2nd or 3rd verse, but I've seen Paul play it live without, so, do whatever you want.
first tab!
