Long Ride Home - Patti Griffin
Tabbed by: rarmes (Robert Armes)
E-mail: rarmes55@gmail.com
Tuning: DADGBD - Double Drop D
Capo: 4
Notes: Standing on the shoulders of Kate Peterson's version, I have put together this version.
A couple notable changes:
1) The A chord is not played on the 7th fret, as Kate has it.
I watched some youtube performances of Patti to confirm this.
Basically you can just play the A as if it were a normal tuning, but without the high e (d in our case).
2) The G chord IS played on the 5th fret, as Kate has it, and this IS indeed also how Patti plays it.
However - I don't like it. Playing those low notes on the 5th fret and with the capo,
they tend to be less accurate in pitch.
So I prefer to play the G chord as in the first version below - sounds nice and more pitch correct.
But that's just me - make your own choice here. I've included both versions for completeness.
3) There are also some points in the song where Patti alternates between the A and Asus9.
In these cases, Patti doesn't bar the chord, but rather, fingers the strings individually,
making the change between these chords smoother.
4) The Bm minor should include the minor third note (missing in Kate's) - added in here.
5) Season to taste
