Fred tuned the guitar right into it but I find it safer to go into Open D (DADF#Ad) and then put the capo on the 2nd fret. A whole step isn't that big of a jump to tune a string but I don't like to take chances. MFM didn't play a steady bassline. He'd skip some here or there to accentuate certain slides and would sometimes focus on a one string bassline instead of a two string. I'm not that obsessed. If you wanted to though, you could follow the beat through the whole song while watching the video and listening to a slowed down .mp4 of the song. You'll notice, however, that I did go through and find most of the ornamental stuff he does mixing up the beat with mute strokes. Also, after the solo, everything on the B and e strings is played with a slide or is played as an open string. Comment or message any ideas or corrections. Please rate my tab.
