Jim Jones at Botany Bay -- "The Hateful Eight" version
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: FeynmansZombie
Tuning: half-step down
This is the version of the song played by Daisy (Jennifer Jason Leigh) in Tarantino's
movie "The Hateful Eight."
Probably the best scene of the movie. As far as I can tell, it's an original arrangement
- I tabbed it by ear
by listening to the soundtrack. This version is more similar to "Skibbereen" than it is
to other versions of
"Jim Jones at Botany Bay." The lyrics are also different in some places (especially the
last line).
It's all four chords - stick to them and you can make up your own flourishes if you
like. I won't pretend to
know every note and nuance, but this was basically a live performance so it wouldn't do
to be too scripted. For
instance, you could play G with the B string open or 3, or switch it up as you please.

For life, Jim Jones, I sentence you a- cross the stormy sea.

and 4th lines:
[Lyrics]
GTake my tip before you ship to Amjoin the iron Emgang,
Don't Cbe too gay in GBotany Bay, or Amelse you'll surely Emhang.
Or Celse you'll surely Ghang, said he, and Amafter that, Jim EmJones,
High Amup upon the Emgallows tree, the cAmrows will pick your bEmones.
GThere's no chance for mischief Amthere, remembeEmr that, they say
They'lCl flog the poaGching out of yoAmu down there in BotEmany Bay.
WavCes were high upon tGhe sea, the winds aAmpproaching galesEm
I'd rAmather drowneEmd in misery than goAmne to New South WalesEm.
GThe waves were high upon the seAmas when pirateEms came along,
But thCe soldiers on Gour convict shiAmp were full five huEmndred strong.
TheCy opened fire and sGomehow drove that pAmirate ship away Em
I'd rAmather joinedEm that pirate ship tAmhan gone to Botany BaEmy.
GAnd one dark night when everythAming is quiet iEmn the town,
I'll kCill you bastarGds one and all,Am I'll gun the floggEmers down.
I'lCl give them all a lGittle shock, remembAmer what I say Em
They'Amll yet regreEmt they sent Jim JonAmes in chains to BotanEmy Bay.
