Tuning: E A D G B E
This Tab refers to Micah P. Hinson`s song Close Your Eyes, the first track of his 2004
debut album "The Gospel Of Progress".
Standard Tuning | No Capo
BASIC REMARKS:
On live performances Micah plays with fingerpicking and strumming, while on the record strumming is his choice.
While on stage, Micah either plays with strumming alone, or starts with fingerpicking using strumming later.
The song follows a 4-chord progression during the verse (E-B-C#m-B) and a 2-chord progression during
the chorus (E-F#m).
FINGERPICKING WAY
The following scheme demonstrates used chords. The second one is where the fingerpicking
technique is shown.
This technique is only employed during the verse, for when the Chorus comes, Micah starts strumming.

a-2--9--4---4- a-2-
e----7--4---2- e-2-
LIVE version chords
During live performances, Micah alternates between the Record version chords and
the following ones. Note that the E chord on live performances on the chorus
is always played the same way (record version).
Besides the ones shown in the "Fingerpicking" section, mainly played at the beginning of the song,
there are other chords Micah uses throughout the song:
B F#m C#m
e----2-----|
b----2-----|
g----2-----|
d-1--4---2-|
a-2--4---4-|
e-2--x---4-|
The alternate B and C#m chords are played by strumming the e,a and d strings only. These 2 chords, when used,
are used together at the beginning of the song, without fingerpicking, for in this case Micah only uses
strumming.
The F#m alternate chord is played by using the index finger to press the g,b and e strings, using
the ring and pinky to press the others, not playing therefore the e (6th) string.
