Mac DeMarco – Ken The Wolf Boy
from ‘Salad Days Demos’ (Captured Tracks, 2014)
Tabbed and uploaded to Ultimate-Guitar.com by Max Klauber
One of my favorite tracks from his demo tapes; definitely shows his talent when it comes to basic rock
arrangements. The lead guitar part is fairly straightforward, and I don’t think you should even need a capo
unless you want to mess around with the chord voicings for the rhythm part. The song is in A, but I think
the rhythm part does sound better if you do capo on 2 and transpose to G. It’s very likely that this is how
Mac played it in the recording.
For the main riff, I also recommend playing the notes on the G-string with a pick and fingerpicking the notes
on the high E-string with your ring finger. Be sure to sustain pretty much every note to get that slacker-
rock vibe that he does so well. (Bonus points for a baseball cap and a Viceroy cigarette.)
