Tuning: E A D G B E
This is Lou Reed's part of the song. I know most people really hate the Lulu album, but this is one of the songs that I've stumbled across that I think didn't sound that bad. Maybe it was the hypnotic riff or Lou's lyrics, but whatever it was, I like this song. I was also really surprised how easy Lou's part was. Just two chords. The same two chords throughout the entire song. The same two basic beginner chords throughout the entire song. Anyone can play this song regardless of your playing abilities. At first I didn't believe it until I watched Lou Reed and Metallica play this song live on a couple of YouTube videos and it just reinforced how simple Lou Reed is at playing guitar. If you somehow are having any problems with the strumming or the beat of the song, please listen to the song and try playing along. Also, when you've made your final judgment on the tab, please rate and comment. Please remember, THIS IS WHAT LOU'S PART OF THE SONG IS. SO DON"T BE SURPISSED IF I DIDN'T TAB WHAT METALLICA PLAY. Chords: lowEADGBe D:XX0232 G:32003X Each chord is played for two measures of 4/4 timing in a constant loop. Intro: D G D G Verse 1:
You Dcan't put a butterfly in a jar GIf the effort's too high no matter who you are You Dcan't catch the moon, or the sun or the stars GIt doesn't matter who you are
Chorus:
Iced Dhoney Iced Ghoney
Verse 2:
D Now me I've tried a million tricks To Gmake life cold and make it stick Not Drunning heat that flames then out But the Gproud piece of ice that always floats
(Repeat Chorus) Verse 3:
If I Dcan't trap a butterfly or a bee If I Gcan't keep my heart where I want it to be If no Dmatter how much soul and heart I put to the wood If a Gflaming heart is not that good
(Repeat Chorus) Verse 4:
If you Dcan't put a butterfly in a jar If Gviolence mars your final hour If you Dmake others feel like jam GPoured on a piece of charbroiled lamb
Verse 5:
If it's Dall mixed up and you cannot shout And your Goxygen starts to run out If your Dfinal gasp has the recipe wrong And Ginstead of hello you say so long
Verse 6:
If your Denergy starts to leak out And Gpeople wonder what you're all about A Dheartbreaker with an unattached heart The Gstory of love gives them all a start
Verse 7:
And Dme, I've always been this way Not by Gchoice, just this way I Dcan't put my honey pot in a jar Or a Gheart or a fist of some young boy
Verse 8:
If you Dcan't put a butterfly in a jar No wonder Gno need to wonder where you are It Dmight seem like Hell, the river Styx GYour affection never sticks
Verse 9:
DNo matter what you say, no matter what you do A Gbutterfly heart flies right past you There's Dnothing to say, nothing to do GSee if the ice will melt for you
Bridge:
DSee if the ice will melt for you GSee if the ice will melt for you DSee if the ice will melt for you DSee if the ice will melt for you
Chorus:
Iced Dhoney Iced GHoney IcedD honey Iced GHoney
(Repeat Bridge) Outro Chorus:
Iced Dhoney (See if the ice will melt for you) Iced GHoney (See if the ice will melt for you) Iced Dhoney (See if the ice will melt for you) See if the, see if the Gice will melt for you (See if the ice will melt for you) Iced Dhoney (See if the ice will melt for you) Iced GHoney (See if the ice will melt for you) Iced Dhoney
And that should be that for the Lou Reed and Metallica song Iced Honey. I tried to get the chord changes as best as I can to match with Lou's spoken singing style.
