Capo: 1 Tuning: D G D G B D
This is my tab for Leadbelly's awesome song, "Packin' Trunk", which can be found on the compilation "King of the 12-String Guitar". Leadbelly uses a 12-string guitar for this one, but it sounds good on a 6-string, too. I've written the tab in the key of G, although the actually recording seems to be a half-step higher. If you want to play with the recording, just tune to open G and put a capo on 1st fret. The whole song is played with a slide, except the strumming part between the verses and the end where Leadbelly uses harmonics to imitate a piano. This is not really meant to be an exact transcription of what Leadbelly plays in the song, more of a starting point to learn the song. With these old blues songs, I think it's best to get a feel for some of the riffs that are used, listen to the recording, and then figure out a way of playing the song that works for you.
