Ive been fiddling around with this lately as it seems everyone else who's done a tab couldnt quite find the right key. The first version i'm going to do is the way Justin actually plays it himself, ill include a link so you can see him play it for youself. The reason everyone was struggling is because he plays it a HALF STEP DOWN. It can also be played without tuning down (which ill post below the original) Justin playing it live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_sh06HLXZ8 Im also going to include the intro for those who have a second guitar player or just want to know how to play it. AGAIN TUNE A HALF STEP DOWN All the chords are standard except this one we'll call Eb/G
eb|Em/G--3--| Bb|--3--| Gb|--0--| Db|--2--| Ab|--2--| Eb|--0--|
One last side note- you'll hear the 5th fret of the high e string being played with every chord in the verses. That is his guitarist playing that note. The way ive written it out is exactly how Justin plays the song. (the alternate way to play it hits the note but doesnt sound nearly as good, again scroll past the first version.) Intro: (D) (A) (Em/G) (G) eb|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Bb|8/10~~--------|------------8b|8~----------5v|\3v-----------| Gb|-------9/11\9~|--------------|--------------|--------------| Db|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Ab|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Eb|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Verse:
I've bDeen on the Grand Ole Opry, I've played a sAhow with ZZ Top Em/GWent on tour with Skynyrd and Gman they still rock Shot the Dbull with Bocephus, before he cAlimbed up on his jet Played south Em/GFlorida with Alan Jackson, That's some Gthings that you never forget, And Bmall that stuff it Amakes you feel realG good, But not Anear as good
Chorus:
As flyin' down a Dback road, With some buddies from Aback home A splash of Jack Bmin my Coke, Catchin' brim on a GZebco Spottin' deer in a Dhay field, After church a ASunday meal Huggin' mama beBmfore I go,G Flyin' down a Dback road A
Verse:
DUp there in Des Moines, they knew my Asongs line by line I just Em/Gstood there in the fake smoke, Another Gdream came true that night I've sDeen so many places, I Athought I'd never see All the Em/Gway from California to as Gfar as you can go East And Bmall that stuff it Amakes you feel real Ggood, But not neAar as good...
Chorus:
As flyin' down a Dback road, With some buddies from Aback home A splash of Jack Bmin my Coke, Catchin' brim on a GZebco Spottin' deer in a Dhay field, After church a ASunday meal Huggin' mama beBmfore I go,G Flyin' down a Dback road
I'm a Bmlucky man, I got a Areal good life G With all the Athings I've done Gnothin' gets me as Em/Ghigh...
Chorus:
As flyin' down a Dback road, With some buddies from Aback home A splash of Jack Bmin my Coke, Catchin' brim on a GZebco Spottin' deer in a Dhay field, After church a ASunday meal Huggin' mama beBmfore I go,G Flyin' down a Dback road A Oh, flyin' down a Em/Gback roaGd D
Now for the alternate version if you don't want to tune down (as i said before the tradeoff is it doesnt sound as good but you dont have to tune and you hit that note on the high e string that his guitarist plays throughout) Capo on the 1st fret Chords used: Verse: follow the lyrics above and trade out this chord progression
e|--C/G-3---|---G3---|-Dm/F--3---|--F/G-3---| B|---1---|---3---|---1---|---1---| G|---0---|---0---|---2---|---2---| D|---2---|---0---|---0---|---3---| A|---3---|---2---|---0---|-------| E|-------|---3---|-------|-------|
or if you dont like that third fret on the high e that Justin's guitarist plays just play a regular C, G, Dm/F, F progression. The Dm/F is the only tricky one and that would change to
|--Dm/F-1---| |---1---| |---2---| |---0---| |---0---| |-------|
Pre Chorus:
And Amall that stuff it Gmakes you feel rFeal good, but not nGear as good
Chorus: Again follow the lyrics above but use the progression: C, G, Am, F
