I've looked everywhere for this song and can't find it, so I finally gave up and figured it out myself. She usually plays it on piano, so I figured it out that way first and then tried it on guitar to see if it still sounded OK. I think it works. If I missed something, please let me know. Capo I
CColoradoG, ColForado C CWhen the wForld leaves yCou sFhivering
FAnd the blizzard Gblows CWhen the snow Gflies Fand the night Cfalls
There's a lAmight in the window And a pFlace called hGome
FAt the end of the Amstorm AmOne night on the mountain I was headed for Estes
When the roads turned to ice and it Fstarted to Gsnow AmPut on the chains in a whirl of white powder
Halfway up to Berthoud near a dFiner I knoGw CAnd the light burned inside, shining down through the snowfall
GGod, it was cold, and theF temperatureG droppin' CWent in for coffee and I shivered as I drank it
GWarming my hands in the stFeam as it rose AmSitting there at the counter was a dark-headed stranger
AmMe and the owner and Fhim keeping Gwarm AmNodded hello and I said, "It's a cold one.
AmLooks like there might be a Fblizzard tonGight," And &Cquot;Yes," said the owner, "There's a big storm on the mountain.
GGood thing we're open; we could Fbe here for Ghours. CThere's nothing for miles, and it's too late to get to Denver.
GBetter not try for the Fsummit tonGight." CAnd the snow Gfell
FAnd the night Cpassed CAnd I tFalked to the sAmtrangers
AmAs the Fblizzard GbleAmw AmMe and the stranger, you know I don't talk to strangers
I'm a private sort of person, but a Fblizzard is a Gblizzard And Amsomehow I found myself saying you'd left me
Telling him everything I Fwanted to Gsay to you. You Cknow how it is when you can talk to a stranger
GSomeone you're quite sure Fyou'll never see Gagain CSoon we were talkin' and laughin' and drinkin'.
He said, &Gquot; You must know youF're too good Gfor him." CAnd the snow Gfell
FAnd the night Cpassed CAnd I tFalked to the sAmtrangers
AmAnd the Fblizzard GbleAmw AmThe stranger said, "Love, it can cry you a river.
AmMe, I'm a loner, 'cause IF can't take theG heartache. AmSometimes I'm a fighter when I get too much whiskey.
AmHere, have a little whiskey; preFtend you don't Ggive a damn. CMy cabin's up here on the side of the mountain.
GYou can go up there and Fsleep through the Gblizzard." CI put on my parka, said goodbye to the owner,
GFollowed the stranger through the Fsnow up the Cmountainside. AmWoke in the morning to the sun on the snow
AmMy car was buried in Fsix feet of Gsnowdrift AmThey dug me out, just the owner and the stranger
AmSent me on my way when the Fsnowplow had Gbeen by And the Croads were all clear, and the sun on the mountains
GSparkled like diamonds on the FPeak-to-Peak GHighway CThen I knew that I would get over you
DmKnew you could leave me,G but you'd never breakC me CColoradoG, ColForado C
