Strumming
Tuning: E A D G B E
Play this with the typical boom chick-a boom chick-a strum. Hit the bass string on the first down stroke of each strum. On the C chord, alternate playing the bass C on the 3rd fret of the A string and the G on the 3rd fret of the low E string with the ring(3rd)finger. The turnaround is just a walk down from F to C. Em7add11 is just all strings open. Strum each chord once until you get back to C and start the boom chick-a strum again. This may not be 100% correct to the recording, but it's a version I like to do as a solo acoustic song. For a variation to make it easier (like a doing this as a bluegrass jam song) you can omit the walk down and play the F chord on the last word of the last line as C chord. Example:
And GI hardly ever sing beer drinking Csongs Or to make it harder, Try shifting the walk down to the first of the four last syllables of the last line
Example: G F E Em7add11 C And I hardly ever sing beer drink ing songs Have fun with it. [Intro] C [Chorus]
CI hardly ever sing beer drinking songs CAnd when they play them cheatin' tunes GI never sing along FI never ever sing the blues CI've forgotten Fborn to lose G F F E Em7add11 C And I hardly ever sing beer drinking songs
[Verse 1]
CI hardly ever walk the floor and cry CAnd I don't think I've ever said GI feel like I could die FI don't ever lay awake CI never think my heart Fwill break G F F E Em7add11 C and I hardly ever walk the floor and cry
[Verse 2]
CI hardly ever sing beer drinking songs CI can't put much feeling in saying Glove is all gone wrong FI don't lose no sleep at night C'cause things with youF are going right G F F E Em7add11 C And I hardly ever sing beer drinking songs
[Break] C C G F C F G F F E Em7add11 C [Verse 3]
CI never call your name out in my sleep CYou never make me worry and Gyou never make me weep FI never wonder if you're true I Cspend a night curled Fup with you G F F E Em7add11 C And I never call your name out in my sleep
