Son of A Son of a Sailor
J. Buffett
Intro: G F C G
As the Gson of a son of a sailor
I went oFut on the sea Cfor adventGure
exCpanding the view of the capGtain and crew
like a man Djust released from indenGture
As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man,
I have chaFlked up mCany a mile
Read Cdozens of books about Gheroes and crooks,
and I've learned mDuch from both of their sGtyles
F/GSon of a son C/Gson of a son sn of a con of a saiGlor
FSon of a gun load Cthe last ton One step a head of the Gjailer
Now away in the near furture
southeast of disorder
you can shake the hand of the mango man
as he greets you at the border
And the lady she hails from trinidad,
island of the spices
Salt for you meat and cinamon sweet
and the rum if for all you dood vices
Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind that our
forefathers harnessed before us
Hear the bells ring as the tide rigging sings.
It's a son of a gun of a chorus
GWhen it all ends I can't fathom my friends
If I knew FI might Ctoss out my Ganchor
So CI'll cruse a long always Gsearching
for song not a Dlawyer a thief or a Gbanker
Ending Twice:
but a F/Gson of a son C/Gson of a son
-- son of a son son of a son
son of a son of a Gsalior
son of a son of a salior
FSon of a gun Cload the last ton
The sea's in my veins; my tradition remains
one step ahead of the jGailer
I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer

Sure do. Nevada's new maintainers will most likely be getting the
rest of the stuff that I had unsuccessfully been trying to send for a
while. BTW, there is THE Buffett archive in case you all might want
to check it out. It's available via anonymous FTP at the Ventura site
located at Ball State. It's address is:
147.226.57.196 /pub/buffett/lyrics/chords
They also have compiled lyrics to all albums by name. FTP there and poke
around...
Sorry for the chatter; here's the music...

GAs the son of a son of a sailor
I went Fout on the Csea for adGventure
ExCpanding the view of the Gcaptain and crew
Like a Dman just released from inGdenture
As a Gdreamer of dreams and a traveling man
I have cFhalked up Cmany a Gmile
Read Cdozens of books about Gheroes and crooks
And I lDearned much from both of their sGtyles
Chorus:
FSon of a son, Cson of a son
Son of a son of a Gsailor
FSon of a gun, Cload the last ton
One step ahead of the Cjailer
Now away in the near future
Southeast of disorder
You can shake the hand of the Mango man
As he greets you at the boarder
And the lady she hails from Trinidad
Island of the spices
Salt for your meat and cinnamon sweet
And the rum is for all your good vices
HFaul the sheet in as we Cride on the wind
That our forefathers harnessed beGfore us
HFear the bells ring as the Ctide ringing sings
It's a son of a gun of a Gchorus
Where it all ends I can't fathom my friends
If I knew I might toss out my anchor
So I'll cruise along always searching for songs
Not a lawyer a thief or a banker
But the son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
Son of a gun, load the last ton
One step ahead of the jailer
I'm just a son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
The Fsea's in my veins, my tCradition remains
I'm just glad I don't live in a Gtrailer
