Tuning: E A D G B E
Song: When the party's over
Artist: Janis Ian
Composer: Janis Ian
Album: Between the lines
Tabbed by: DJ
18th Feb 2016
I've indicated the chord shapes I believe Janis uses in the
studio track, which mostly sound quite bright being on the top
4 strings, there is no need to detune the bottom E if you stick
to these shapes. In the absence of an additional bass guitar
though, you could use the dropped D tuning and occasionally add
some weight by picking the bottom D note on the 6th string as
Janis does in her live solo performances, instead of on the
4th string. In her more recent live gigs she drops the capo down
a semi-tone to the 1st fret, and adds a few extra chords
(See additional notes after the main tab).
TUNING: D-A-D-G-B-E [Tune bottom E, the 6th string, DOWN to D]
CAPO: 2nd fret (Song will then sound in the recorded key of E)
