Capo: 2
Hi All, great tune covered and mixed with one of his own. Lyrics and chords from
concert Weekend at the Greek. Capo 2nd Fret. Enjoy.
Opening is just D with alternating plucking on the D and A string. Throughout the
song always pluck the base string, listen to it and you will hear what I am saying.
Look at the bottom for explanation of what he does on the A with *, and A**.
DI don't care if it rains or freezes
Gas long as I've got my plastic Jesus
D A*
sitting on the dashboard of my car
Dit comes in colors pink and pleasant
Git glows in the dark cause its iridescent
DI'll take it with me Awhenever I go fDar
Dso give me my lady Madonna
Gdressed in rhinestones and sitting on a
D A*
pedestal of abalone shells
Ddriving 90 but I'm not scared
Gbecause I've got my Virgin Mary
Dassuring me that I will Anever go to hDell
D (Plucking D string)
DAnd by the way You know that
Dhope will make you strange
DMake you blink, make you blank, make you sink
DIt will make you afGraid of change
GAnd often blame
GThe box with the view of the world
GAnd the walls that fill the fDrame
DI turn it up
Dbut then I turn it off
DBecause I can't stand when they start to talk
About the hurGting and killing
GWhose shoes are we filling
GThe damage and ruin
GMan, the things that we're doing
GoodD god, We gotta stop, we gotta turn it all off
DWe gotta rewind
Dand start it up again
A**
Because we fell across the fall line
AAin't there nothing sacred anyGmore
GNana nana nana nDa
G, D, G, D, G, D
DSomebody saw him jump
But nobody saw him slip
I guess he lost a lot of hope
And then he lost his grip
Now he's lyGing in the freeway
In the middle of this mess
Guess we lost another one
Just like the other one
DOptimistic hypocrite
That didn't have the nerve to quit
The things that kept him wanting more
Until he finally reached the core
A**
He fell across the fall line
AAin't there nothing sacred anGymore
G, G, G
A**
We all fell across the fall line
AAin't there nothing sacred anGymore
GNa na na, na, nananDa
G, D, G, D, G, D
GAll my friDends are getting olGder,
AI guess I must be BMtoo.
Without their love and kinGdness
AI don't want I'll do, Oh
GThe wine bottle's half emDpty
AThe money's all been sBMpent
We're a cross between our paGrents
And hiAppies in a tent. OH,
LoveG calls just like a wiDld bird
AIt's just another BMday
Spring blew my Glist of thiAngs to do aGway.
D,G,D
GIn a mucked up lovelDy river
AI cast my my little fBMly
But I look at that river and I smGell it and
it maAkes me want to cry, Oh
GTo clean our dirty plDanet
ANow there's a noble wBMish
Now I putting shoulder tGo the wheel
ACause I wanna catch some fish, Oh
Love cGalls just like a wilDd bird
AIt's just another dBMay
Spring blew my lGist of thAings to do aDway.
A* At this point Jack plucks the D string and strums A. Then covers the E string on
the second fret with his thumb, pluck and then strum A again.
A** Same as A* except cover E with thumb on 3rd fret, strum A, back to thumb on 2nd
strum A and go to G.
Hope this helps! If you listen to the song performed on "Weekend at the Greek" you
will hear what I am talking about.
