Okay, there are several tabs out there for this song(including five or so on this
website itself) but I've never managed to find one that was completely correct.
Not bashing any of the other people who posted this song, but all the other tabs
had a few mistakes.
So in the end I puzzled out the problem areas myself and decided to post my own
version of the song. I had to make a profile for it to.
*There are a few uncommon chords in this song, I have the positions for all the
chords used in the song at the bottom of the tab* if you run across one you don't know.
Well then, without further ado:
"Simple and Clean" by Hikaru Utada
Standard tuning, Capo 3
CWhen you walk away, EmYou don't hear me say
AmPlease, Oh ba-Gby, don't go
CSimple and clean is the Gway that you're making me Cfeel tonight
It's Dhard to let it go (Keep strumming D or let chord fade out)
You're giving AmMe to many Gthings, Lately
GYou're all I Amneed, You smiled at Gme, and said
FDon't get me wrong I love you,E
EBut does that mean I have to Ammeet your father'
AmWhen we are older you will Funderstand what I Emeant when I said &Amquot; No,
I don't think lifeE is quite that simple.
(From here repeats itself, same chords different lyrics, until the bridge)
CWhen you walk away, Emyou don't hear me say
AmPlease, Oh ba-Gby, don't go
CSimple and clean is the Gway that you're making me Cfeel tonight
It's Dhard to let it go (continue strumming D chord)
DThe daily Amthings, that keep us Gall busy
Are confusing Amme. That's when you come toG me, and say
FWish I could prove I love youE, But does that mean I have to Amwalk on water'
AmWhen we are older you will Funderstand it's eEnough when I say Amso
AmAnd maybe, some Ethings are that simple.
CWhen you walk away, Emyou don't hear me say
AmPlease, Oh ba-Gby, don't go
CSimple and clean is the Gway that you're making me Cfeel tonight
It's Dhard to let it go (Rapidly strum D Down,up,down twice)
Cadd9Hold me, G6Whatever lies beyond this Cadd9morning G6is little later on
CRegardless of warnings the Gfuture doesn't scare me at Call.
Fsus7 (Strum once)
Nothing's like before! (Brief Pause)
CWhen you walk away, Emyou don't hear me say
AmPlease, Oh ba-Gby, don't go
CSimple and clean is the Gway that you're making me Cfeel tonight
It's Dhard to let it go
Cadd9Hold me, G6Whatever lies beyond this Cadd9morning G6is little later on
CRegardless of warnings the Gfuture doesn't scare me at Call.
Fsus7 (Strum once)
Nothing's like before!
(Repeat once more from "Hold me...")
And that's the song. My placement of the chords if as specific as I can make it
(sometime they do change mid word) but in the end its up to you to make the
changes exact, word is a rather imperfect medium for this sort of thing.
The bridge is the most confusing part, mainly because it has three chords that
most average guitarists don't usually see. Luckily, most of them are rather easy,
and if you're really having trouble with the Fsus7 you can just use a normal F
chord instead.
I'd like to think I did this perfectly, but then I'd be lying to myself wouldn't I C:
So if you think I'm wrong in any part of the song leave a comment and I'll try and
fix it.
And here are the chords a promised. These are my way of playing all the chords, so
feel free to stick with your own variations.
Am (0-0-2-2-1-0)
G (3-2-0-0-3-3)
F (x-x-3-2-1-1)
E (0-2-2-1-0-0)
C (x-3-2-0-1-0)
G6 (3-2-0-0-0-0)
Cadd9 (0-3-2-0-2-2)
Fsus7 (1/x-3-3-0-1-1)*
*For Fsus7, you have to either rap your hand around the neck of your guitar and
use you're thumb to get the low E string, or not play the low E at all.
Using your thumb makes it sound better.
