This song was originally written by The Crickets in the late 50's. It was and made famous by Bobby Fuller Four in the mid 60's. The song was then again covered by The Clash in the late 70's. Green Day had re-covered this song for a Pepsi Commercial that aired for the Superbowl, 2004 This is a more complicated song by Green Day seeing that there is a counter melody in verse. I looked at a tab and the chord progression was completely correct but in the key here I have corrected it. Playing Live options. When Green Day plays this they only play the counter melody. They play the chorus solo but play it during the solo. From trying to sing and play song at same time its really hard to play the main melody because the B flat (I think that's it is) makes your voice go to low when trying to sing. You could play it way here only the counter melody person playing do the singing. For guitars Billie his Les Paul jr. and Jason plays a hollow bodied guitar…a Gibson L5 I believe. Effects: Basically just a good distortion. For amp settings…these sound close: bass: 5 Middle: 7 Treble: 10 Reverb: 0 Distiron/Gain/Drive: On But my timing maybe a little off OK MAJOR UPDATE.
