Also, many thanks for maintaining OLGA. I've used it many times. This
is my first submission and I hope to send more.
Mexicali Blues, Grateful Dead
FLayin' back in an old saloon with a Fpeso Ain my Dmhand
FWatchin' flies and children on the Cstreet
And I Fcatch a glimpse of black-eyed girls who Fgiggle Awhen I Dmsmile
There's a Flittle boy who wants to shine my Cfeet
And it's Fthree days ride from ABakersfield and I Dmdon't know why I came
I Fguess I came to keep from payin' Cdues
But Finstead I've got a Abottle and a Dmgirl who's just fourteen
And a Fdamn good case of the Mexicali Blues, yeah
CIs there anything a man don't stand to lose
When the devil wants to Ftake it all away?
Cherish well your thoughts, keep a tight grip on your booze
F(open) F
'Cuz thinkin' and drinkin' are all I have today.
FShe said her name was Billie Jean; Fshe was Afresh in Dmtown
I Fdidn't know a stage line ran from Chell
She had Fraven hair, a ruffled dress, a Fnecklace Amade of gold
FAll the french perfume you'd care to Csmell
She Ftook me up inAto her room and Dmwhispered in my ear
Go Fon my friend do anything you Cchoose.
Now I'm Fpaying for those Ahappy hours I Dmspent there in her arms
With a Flifetime case of the Mexicali Blues, Cyeah.
CIs there anything a man don't stand to lose

'Cuz thinkin' and drinkin' are all I have today.
FThen a man rode into town; some Fthought he Awas the Dmlaw
FBillie Jean was waiting when he Ccame
She Ftold me he would take her if I Fdidn't Ause my Dmgun
And FI'd have no one but myself to Cblame
I Fwent down to those Adusty streets; Dmblood was on my mind
I Fguess that stranger hadn't heard the Cnews.
"F;Cuz I shot firstA and killed him. LorDmd he didn't even draw.
And he Fmade me trade the gallows for the Mexicali Blues.C
CIs there anything a man don't stand to lose
When he lets a woman Fhold him in her hand?
You just might find yourself out there on horseback in the dark

Just ridin' and runnin' across those desert sands.
Notes:
I use a strum with a lot of alternating bass - usually 4th and 5th strings -
for the A and D chords. However, I find that the strumming patterns
vary greatly throughout the song. Play along with the record to get
the right feel.
I fake the trumpet intro with D chord forms using D, Dsus4 and D9.
The G-B-Em chord progression in some verses sounds best as single emphasized
strums synchronized to the words (e.g. some THOUGHT he WAS the LAW).
