I want to believe in myself once again So I dream of a man whose hopes never end To kiss with a girl who's as lovely as you I'd give you my heart, if you gave me the truthAnd C5for every tear that is lost from an G5eye
I'd E5dig me a well where no A5man could destroy
I C5want to believe in a freedom that's G5bold
But E5all I remember is the freedom of old
fig. 1
(with variation of fig. 1)
Well I lost me a wife, so I found me a plane
Flew all the way to California
This mess in my head is a mess getting out
Ya drink too much coffee, I drink too much stout
But C5after a while, when my mouth's not so G5dry
I'll E5dance up a storm, sure life's looking fiA5ne
But as C5darkness falls, I return to my G5bed
Don't E5ask me more questions, don't f**k with my head
(with variation of fig. 1)
I've been down in this world, down and almost broken
Like thousands of people, left standing in their shoe
I've been down in this world, down and almost broken
As thousands they grieve, as the Black Friday rule
play fig. 1 once
then use this as a fill:

the beginning and a good chunk of it is just figure 1 played palm
muted. for better effect, mess around in the Am pentatonic scale,
with position at the 5th fret (7th without the capo). the solo
sounds good regardless of exactly what you play as long as you
stay in the Am pentatonic. i'm pretty sure that this riff is
reoccurring throughout, though

The buildings they shake but my heart it beats still Oh mother of Jesus, I feel pretty ill I want to go home where my feet both feel safe But there ain't no jobs in the old free stateSo C5I must remain in my new adopted lG5and
I'm E5doing the best, Hell I'm A5doin' all I can
So C5next time you see me, don't ask for my G5name

acoustic guitar shadows most of the electric work here,
except in the solo. note that figure 1 isn't the EXACT
guitar used during the verses or chorus, but it's nearly
the exact same. use the same chords and progressions and
it'll sound right. the solo is fun and it's a perfect time
to pull out your own chops and improv. to get the solo the
same as from the cd, just stay on the 5th fret and follow the
same general progression. have fun
