Gm chord underlies the entire section. The 2 decending arpeggios toward the end are from Dm and Gbm chords. Part II. Because this is played slowly you have be spot-on with your bends. David Gilmour uses the whammy for vibrato, but its a good opportunity to practise your finger vibrato. It includes one and one and a half tone bends. The solo sticks to Gm pentatonic (G,Bb,C,D,F) with the occasional use of the 2nd note (A). Part IIIa. Let the 4-notes ring then add a bit of whammy. The single chord responses to the 4-note theme (Chester Kamen- Guitar) are also whammied. The chord Gm7add6 (Gm13) (G, Bb, D, F, E) has all the notes of Syd's theme. Part IIIb. First part of solo is close to structure of recorded version but after bar 9 becomes more bluesy with a more improvised feel. Plenty of stock blues phrases incorporated. Gm pentatonic again. Some trademark 'bend tone-release-bend two tone-release' bends here. Part Va. The fills use the Heptatonic blues scale adding Db(5b) and Gb(7b) to Gm pentatonic. The Gb comes from G harmonic minor (G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, Gb, G). Part V. Stress the top string when playing the backing figures (looks like david Gilmour is playing up-up-down pick stroke pattern).
