Capo: 3 Tuning: E A D G B E
This Too Shall Pass by Danny Schmidt Danny Capos this on 2nd or 3rd fret depending on which concert you look at. In his book he says 2nd fret looking at videos on youtube I see him capo it on the third fret. This version takes into accout his style of fingerpicking - which relys on the close proximity of Am, C, G, Ddim7 and F to each other. It's a rolling fingerpicking style with a ton of hammer-ons - but it's quite easy to get the hang of. Each note is plucked and then hammered on soon therafter. I recommend finding a video of him playing it so you can see his fingers. Once you have the style its the same for each stanza and it repeats. BTW - this is maybe his most popular song. It's about a time when he had health issues and a friend made him a ring which helped him get perspective and inspired the story. There is a poster for it on his website as well that has a great design I just got in the mail. [Intro] Am - C - G Am - G ... [Verse 1]
WeAmll things change fast, But this too shall pass Better caGrve it on your forehead or tDdim7attoo it on your ass Cause who can tAmell, when the clFock strikes twCelve If todGay's become tomorrow or it's all just gone to hell
[Verse 2]
My friend makes riAmngs, she swirls and sings She's a mysGtic in the sense, that sheDdim7's still mystified by things But scared to aAmsk, How can notFhing seem to lCast? Cause like a canGcer in your body, it all just goes too fast
[Verse 3]
We think too bAmig, we think our self is one whole thing And we claGim that this collection has a nDdim7ame and is a being But deep insAmide, when eveFry cell divCides Well it seGts upon the rule that states self-interest is divine
[Verse 4]
And cancer toAmo lives by this golden rule That you mGust do unto the others as the otDdim7hers unto you All for the beAmst, cause it's aFll that life acCcepts So we kiGll it like a buffalo with awe and with respect
[Verse 5]
Don't ask AmGod, just holler at the sky Cause she'llG tell it to you plainly in the cloDdim7uds that whisper by And praise the sAmhapes, and praFise the way they cChange and they'll teGach you not to pray to light without you pray to rain
[Verse 6]
So I pray to hAmands, and I pray to needs And I pray to blGades of grass to find forgiveDdim7ness in the weeds But as for heaAmlth, I just neFver did belCieve So I never prayGed myself except to those that prayed for me
[Verse 7]
The story gAmoes, or the way that I was told There was a kiGng that always felt too high anDdim7d then he fell too low So he calAmled all the wisFe men to the hCall And he begGged them for a gift to end the rises and the falls
[Verse 8]
And here's Amthe thing, they came back with a ring It was simpleG and was plainly unbefiDdim7tting of a king Engraved in blAmack, well it haFd no front or Cback But there weGre words around the band That said,
"Just know: This Too Shall Pass."
