Tuning: E A D G B E
Dan mixes the licks & fills up, as well as mixes between strumming and fingerpicking throughout all the live videos I have seen. However, I believe you can get the essence of this song through just a strumming pattern. Below are the main chords that he is using throughout the song. I have included some licks and fills that I see him use below. A Chord lick in Verse, 1st and 2nd line of Chorus - Normal A chord (bar the DGB strings on the second fret) and put ring finger on the 4th fret of the D string on the 2nd and 4th measure (A chord should last for "1 and 2 and 3 and 4" with the 4th fret of the D string coming in on the 2nd and 4th measure) G Chord in Chorus - He does a walk down thing between the G chord and D Chord in the chorus Hit the 3rd fret of low E on "You", 2nd fret of the low E on "Don't", 2nd fret of the A string on "Think" (this is combined with the E7 Chord) Check out the KCRW live version on YouTube as this was helpful to watch and get the strumming patern and see where the licks and fills fit.
