INSANE - Damien Rice
Tabbed by: James Derwent Stewart
Tuning: Standard (Eadgbe)
Tabbed to cover this acoustic version:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNFxQ-9QZd4
Verse chord shapes:
Em = 022000
D9 = x00320
C9 = x32030
B7 = x21202
Also note he does quite a few hammer-ons (in the verse):
-Second finger on A string in the Em chord
-Second finger on G string in the D9 chord
Chorus chord shapes:
C/G = 332010
D4add9 = 554030
Em* = 075000
Em9 = 075070
He also does these near the end of the song (the part where he says “I give in” twice in a row)
Em = 022000
C = 032010
-The Em9 has a really nice effect, you can slot it in while you're holding the Em*.
-This Em* chord actually has so many things you can do to it, try experimenting putting and string up to
fret 7 with your pinky and you can do some cool things.
-If you want to go crazy awesome, you can bend the B string up from an f# to a g for extra effect and nuance.
-He also does a hammer-on in the chorus: second fret on D string during the C/G chord.
Should I Emspeak? Should I bother shaking D9hands?
Am I Emweak, if I leave it as it D9stands?
I've subEmmerged, and I've surfaced with the D9blame,
I guess I'm no C9good, I guess I'mB7 insane.
Should I Emgo, if she calls out my D9name?
And if she Embleeds, should I wipe up the D9stain?
And if I'm Emlow, can I drown in this D9rain?
I guess I'm no gC9ood, I guess I'm B7insane.
C/G D4add9
And I hate when you say,
That I never Em*fight for you, Em9
C/G D4add9
Sometimes you breathe,
All over my Em*skin, Em9
C/G D4add9
And you always end up,
Much closer than Em*close, Em9
C/D D4add9 Em
And that's, when, I give in.
Should I Emconfess, the actions of a D9hand?
In my Emmind, I'll betray you once D9again.
Why should I Emclimb? What is there to D9gain?
‘Cause this is noC9 good, this iB7s insane.
C/G D4add9
And I hate when you say,
ThEm*at I never fight Em9for you,
C/G D4add9
Sometimes you breathe,
All over my skin,Em* Em9
C/G D4add9
And you always end up,
Much closer than Em*close, Em9
C/D D4add9 Em C D4add9
And that's, when, I give in.
Em C D4add9
I give in.
C/G D4add9
And you're taking, and you're taking,
Em*And you're taking me down.
C/G D4add9
And you're taking, and you're taking,
Em*And you're taking me down.
C/G D4add9 Em*
And you all...
C/G D4add9
You always end up,
Much closer than close, Em*
C/G D4add9 Em*
That, is when, I give in,
C/G D4add9 Em*
Yeah that's, when, I give in,
C/G D4add9 Em*
I said that’s, when, I give in.
