In the main verse the Cadd9/G chord is played by plucking the 4 lowest strings (3 to 6) first then while attemptong to keep the thumb pulsing on the low 6th string using 3 fingers together pluck strings 2 to 4 and progressively shift up a string to 1 to 3 letting it ring out and you climb up.
